For Labor Day weekend we took time off from our stone laying project and went camping. We did some fishing while we were there, so I thought I’d share a few photos of what we caught and of our beautiful campsite on Lake Jeff Davis.

What a beautiful place! This is one of our favorite spots to camp. While we were setting up our RV Friday evening, a older man was fishing in this spot, only a few yards from our camper … and he was reeling them in left and right. McKenzie couldn’t wait to get started fishing!

On the first trip out, Benjy caught these tree tops with his favorite lure. Not being one to give up easily, he tried walking on water to retrieve it! What did he get for his efforts? The bobber and his fishing line, but no lure. Poor guy!

McKenzie fished every opportunity she had. She tried every spot she could reach and every type of bait available to us, but the only thing she caught was a few minnows in her scoop net.
And what did I catch, you ask? Well . . .

I caught a glimpse this amazing Walking Stick! I haven’t seen one of these in years.

We didn’t catch any fish, but we caught a few Z’s, and we enjoyed our time together at the lake. It’s good to get away from the routine and spend time with people you love – even if you have to eat frozen dinners instead of the catch of the day.
Keeping it real,
