Tree House Slide

I think a tree house is every kid’s dream … especially one with a cool slide for a quick exit! We built this one early last year, and our daughter and her friends enjoyed it through the summer with no slide. But this autumn, hubby decided it was time for an upgrade.

Upgrade is such a nice little word … one that carries with it hope and excitement. But by the end of a LONG day of wrestling with this innocent looking little addition, the excitement was long gone and hope was the only thing keeping us going!

There were directions, sure, but hubby doesn’t NEED directions. I’m sure you know that story! Our daughter, her friend, and I joined hubby early Sat. morning and pre-assembled the slide. Later, we transported it to the edge of the woods, where the tree house is perched high above our heads, and prepared to make a quick connection to the front wall, so we could move on to the next item on our weekend projects list. Silly us!

After several hours of bolting and unbolting, twisting and turning, we managed to attach the slide properly … but the day had turned to evening, so we called it quits and came back another day to attach the supports and enjoy the first trip down!

Keeping it real,

    Awwww… nothing advertised as ‘easy’ is ever EASY, is it?
    But I know that every frustrating moment will be repaid with countless happy slides !!

    awesome!!!! my kids would love to have one of those, but we have one problem, no trees:) we have 4 new ones that we are hoping start growing. maybe my grandkids will be able to have one:)

  7. Wow, when it was bigger than the truck, did you wonder about how easy it would really be? I bet it felt good to finish it, though!

    Oh how many times I have set myself up for failure like that! “Oh it will just take a couple of hours (or minutes)” and then days later it finally gets finished. I’ve gotten so much better about that.

    It sure looks like it was worth all the effort though… days and days of fun. You won’t regret it, I’m sure.

    I have to say the slide on the truck is a funny pic. :)

  9. That looks like a terrific slide. I’m sure your kids consider it worth all the frustration it was to get it put together!

  12. Wow , what a dream come true. But with every good thing comes it’s trials. But reading instructions ( like a bible for life) saves a lot of struggles. [0;

    I am so glad your dd got her upgrade. Enjoy !
