Last year was a tough year for our daughter. In March she started complaining of stomach pains that were so uncomfortable that she missed many of her softball games in the spring. She LOVES softball, and missing a game is something she doesn’t take lightly. By the time we made our trip to British Columbia in May, she was really suffering.

We tried limiting sodas, limiting spicy foods, and limiting acidic foods, but nothing really seemed to help. Her pediatrician tried her on a couple different ulcer meds, but by October, she was in constant pain. We were referred to a specialist at Children’s Hospital in New Orleans, and she went through all sorts of tests and procedures.

After all the tests and hospital visits and phone calls, we learned that everything was normal. At least that’s what the doctor’s nurse said … but he wasn’t living in our home! A friend said the symptoms were very much like her granddaughter’s lactose intolerance symptoms. I called the nurse and asked if that test had been done. It hadn’t been!

I went to the drugstore, bought Lactaid, and started her on it right away. She began to feel some relief immediately, and more and more relief as we learned how much to use and when you use it. Today, she is pain free and enjoying her new sport … Taekwando! I much prefer to see her dressed in her white Taekwando uniform, as opposed to the white robes of the hospital.
